ISBT Announces Cooperative Initiative with Cetie

The International Society of Beverage Technologists is pleased to announce its new strategic cooperative initiative with The Centre Technique International de l’Embouteillage (International Technical Centre for Bottling)

DALLAS, TX (November 3, 2014)

The International Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT) announced on November 3 a new strategic cooperative initiative with Cetie, The Centre Technique International de l’Embouteillage (International Technical Centre for Bottling). The initial focus will be to develop standardised test methods for closures for global use in the packaging industry. Both nonprofit organizations have served the beverage industry for more than 50 years. The packaging guidelines developed by the ISBT Packaging Technology Committee and the technical reference documents published by Cetie are used around the world. The new initiative enables ISBT subcommittees and Cetie working groups to collaborate on developing European and global standards and best practice test methods for packaging. The result will improve communication among industry leaders and provide the beverage packaging industry with more international standardisation. “We believe that working more closely will better position us to meet the industry challenges presented by rapid innovations in products, design and manufacturing in today’s world,” said Larry Hobbs, executive director, ISBT. The overlap in the companies and members represented in ISBT and Cetie creates a natural opportunity to leverage resources. This new cooperative effort will help harmonize best practice test methods, guidelines and standards for industry professionals around the world. “Cetie shares with ISBT the strong motivation of its members to invest time in contributing to solving technical challenges common to the industry for mutual benefit. In addition, this cooperation will reinforce geographic representation to positively broaden our combined outlook and service,” said Nicholas Harris, General Secretary, Cetie.
