Discover the latest news from Cetie: a strengthened team, progress in European packaging standardisation, ongoing technical projects and new publications supporting the packaging industry. As 2026 progresses, Cetie continues to strengthen its activities and support collaboration across the international packaging industry. From the development of new digital documentation tools to technical advancements in packaging sustainability, our working groups remain actively engaged in addressing current and future industry challenges.
In March 2026, Ali Almeida joined Cetie as Documentation Manager, succeeding Jeannine Soullié following her retirement. With extensive international experience in the bottling industry, particularly in glass packaging and closures, Ali brings valuable technical knowledge alongside expertise in marketing, sales and customer service.
Cetie also welcomed Coralie Avodabe, who joined in November 2025 as part of her Master's degree work-study programme. During her assignment, which concluded in September 2026, she contributed to the development of Cetie's MediaWiki project, focusing on document migration, terminology management and user documentation.
Cetie is developing a new digital documentation platform, scheduled for launch in late 2027 or early 2028. Designed as a comprehensive documentary ecosystem, the Cetie Wiki will connect technical documents, terminology, meeting minutes, archived versions and ongoing working group activities within a single collaborative environment. Members will be able to access interconnected technical information, follow document development and participate more directly in collaborative work. This initiative represents an important step towards improving knowledge sharing, traceability and accessibility across Cetie's technical community.

Cetie continues its active involvement in European standardisation, particularly within CEN/TC 261/SC 4/WG 6, dedicated to packaging prevention and minimisation. In the context of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Cetie works alongside AFNOR and European standardisation experts to ensure that industrial requirements are reflected in future technical standards.
Particular attention is being given to the potential revision of EN 13428, addressing packaging prevention through source reduction, while maintaining essential requirements for packaging safety, performance and functionality.
The Caps WG1 (Metal Closures) and Glass WG3 (Glass Neck Finish Geometry) working groups are collaborating on technical approaches to microplastics assessment and contamination prevention.
Their work includes the development of FS29.00, a technical protocol intended to harmonise particle assessment methods, alongside investigations into industrial dedusting solutions and contamination control practices.
The PET Reuse working group continues to develop recommendations supporting the safe and reliable reuse of PET bottles.
Two technical documents are currently under development:
Drawing on experience with reusable glass packaging, these projects aim to support practical, technically robust reuse solutions aligned with evolving European regulatory requirements.
Cetie continues to expand and update its technical library with documents developed through industry collaboration.
