New Cetie Publications dedicated to spirits, liquors, and fortified wines's sectors

The Cetie is pleased to announce the publication of two complementary reference documents for the spirits and glass packaging industry:

• Guide No.14 – BARTOP STOPPER APPLICATION ON GLASS FINISH FOR NON-CARBONATED BEVERAGES

• GME51.00 – GLASS BOTTLE – BARTOP STOPPER 27, 29, OR 34 MM – NECK FINISH, STOPPER AND OVERCAP

A unique set of references for bartop stopper applications

These new publications provide a comprehensive framework for the use and specification of bartop stoppers on glass bottles intended for non-carbonated beverages, such as spirits, liquors, and fortified wines.

Developed in collaboration with experts from across the glass, cork, bottling, and equipment sectors, these documents bring together best practices, dimensional standards, and quality recommendations to ensure compatibility, safety, and consistency throughout the supply chain.

The Guide No.14 details the good practices required to achieve a high-quality application of bartop stoppers — allowing bottles to be opened and reclosed by hand without tools. It covers all stages of the process, from component storage to equipment settings, closure systems, and troubleshooting.

The GME51.00 data sheet defines the dimensional characteristics of the neck finishes, stoppers, and overcaps for diameters 27, 29, and 34 mm. It serves as the basis for a future European Standard intended to supersede the French standard NF H35-081, harmonizing practices across Europe.

Together, these two documents form a unique and coherent reference corpus for professionals designing and applying bartop closures on glass packaging.
